Hi Derek, I am so glad I stumbled onto your site while searching for Isabelle Wagner. As you probably know, Isabelle is Albert Wagner's daughter. Albert, along with his wife Katherina (Novak) and brother Joseph Immigrated to America in 1870. Joseph was only 15 at the time and is my husband's great grandfather. They joined another brother, Jacob, who came to America a year earlier at the age of 17.
ReplyDeleteIn 1871 they moved to what is now Tabor, Bon Homme County SD. Jacob drowned in the Missouri River in 1873. In 1873, another brother, Vit, immigrated to America with his wife, Johanna Bumba and two sons, 1 year old Anton and less than a year old Albert O. And the rest is Bon Homme history.
Albert's parents were Wenzl (Vaclav) Wagner and Margareth Petr and they stayed put in Lipi, Ceske Budejovice along with their son Bartolemej, and daughters Marie (Wagner) Wagner and Barbara (Wagner) Prol.
My husband and I are going to the Czech Republic this September and have hired a guide/driver to take us to Lipi, Habri, Kvitkovice, and Dubne. Who knows? Maybe we will find some descendants of Bart, Marie, and Barbara.
You have a great site Thanks for the information. Suzanne Swanson
Oh, I forgot. In ancestry.com, our family tree is Wagner_Swanson in case you are interested. I have just learned how to use the online Czech registers and the headaches of reading Czech/German script. I am lucky that a W looks like a W and the name Wagner is easy to spot. However reading the information on the individuals is not. Suzanne Swanson
ReplyDeleteSuzanne. I messaged you on Ancestry.com as well. But glad you found my blog as well. Good luck in your search! I hope you have a great trip.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne, I'm Frank Martinec's great-granddaughter. I'm trying to find out where Frank is buried. I would assume in Lake Andes, SD.
ReplyDeleteFrank's wife was Mary Honner and her parents immigrated to South Dakota where they died. Frank and Mary had 4 girls and a boy. The son George was in the military and never married. He lived with his father Frank til their deaths. Would you happen to know where Frank and George lived?
