Anna Kristufek Donat (1855-1931)

Anna Kristufek Donat is one of four daughters of Jan Kristufek and Anna Jelinek, born Dec 31, 1855 in Chicago, Illinois. Anna was the first of her siblings born in the US after her parents came from South Bohemia in the fall of 1854.


Anna Kristufek grew up primarily at 171 DeKoven, near the corner of DeKoven and Desplaines in Chicago. In 1868, her father built an apartment house a few blocks away at 487 S. Canal, which the following year became the residence of her future in laws, Joseph and Catherine Donat.

Anna Kristufek married Vaclav Donat on April 6, 1875. They had seven children: Millie, Edward, Joseph, Jerry, Ella, Anna and Sylvia. Anna Kristufek Donat died of stomach cancer on Mar 31, 1931 at the age of 75.
